The Iconic Slick Back Bun

The famous slick back bun is back! This hair style is iconic, and everyone has been trying it out. We all have those night when our hair isn’t cooperating with us, and we need something easy, quick, and cute. The slicked back bun is the perfect option while having a bad hair day, dealing with greasy hair, or when you just want your hair our of your face. What I love about this look is the way it shapes your face. Because the pony tail is super tight and slick it gives the illusion of a cat eye, and slims out your face!

Tip #1 - Olaplex

The most important part while trying to master the slick back bun is making sure all the fly away hairs stay down. Olaplex gives the style the sleek and boujee look everyone’s looking for. Take a couple drops of Olaplex number 6 and run it through your roots before you put it up.

Tip #2 - The Brush Matters!

The first couple times I attempted this hairstyle my hair always looked bumpy, and I wasn’t getting the smooth look that I wanted. When I invested a bristle brush it made all the difference. The tiny bristles removed all the bumps and gaps I would get when I used a regular hairbrush. The bristle brush also helps while fixing any last minute touches that need to be made to complete this look

Tip #3 Placement is Key

When it’s time for putting your hair up its important to know where you want the bun to sit. In my opinion, I like it right behind my head, slightly towards the top. However, it can really go anywhere you want. Whether the bun sits at the bottom of your head, or the top, it will still look incredibly fashionable.

Tip #4 - Rock the Middle Part

Putting your hair in a middle part (mart as some may call it) is crucial while trying to master this hair style. Rocking a middle part will make this style look symmetrical, which is why it is appealing to everyone. The middle part gives this style its sexy, yet classy look.

Tip #5 - Hair Spray

The final step while mastering the “cool girl” hair style is hairspray! You want to make sure this look stays put through the whole night, so hairspray is essential. Whether you are dancing on the dance floor, or dining with friends, this look isn't going anywhere after a couple sprays.

Have Fun!

Have fun with this look! What’s great about it is you can either stick to the bun or leave it in a ponytail. Most important, the outfits you can pair with this hair style are endless. I recommend a strapless dress or shirt so you can really show off your neckline. However, Hailey Bieber has shown that a black blazer looks super chic and classy as well. Also, don’t be afraid to accessorize! Try adding some fun hair clips or hairspray that has some shimmer. Experiment making this simple look unique to you! This look is perfect for a night out with the girls, or date night! Pair it with some chucky gold hoops and you will be ready to go!
